Questions we’re happy to answer
A little about the license, where we work, and the five kinds of pumps. For the longer explanations — a pump that clicks, a breaker that trips, red well water, sand in the sprinklers — see the help articles. If yours isn’t here, just call.
About us
Where are you based, and where do you work?
We’re a small shop based in Stockton. The regular route is the San Francisco Peninsula and the nearby Bay — San Francisco down through Palo Alto — plus the San Joaquin County towns around home. If you’re a little outside that, call anyway. We’ll say honestly if we can make the trip.
Which pumps do you work on?
Water well pumps, lawn irrigation pumps, commercial sewer pumps, commercial water pumps, and circulating pumps. That includes the everyday equipment on those systems: submersibles, jet pumps, boosters, lift stations, grinders, ejectors, and hot-water or heating circulators.
Are you a well driller or a general plumber?
Neither, and that’s useful to know up front. Our license is California CSLB #722897, classification D-21, machinery and pumps. We don’t drill wells or remodel bathrooms. If the pump, motor, or its controls are the trouble, we’d be glad to help.
How do I get a price?
Call (650) 365-2241 with the address, the kind of pump, and what it’s doing. A firm price usually needs a look at the equipment. We’d rather see it and give you a clear number than guess over the phone.
Do you guarantee same-day service?
We don’t promise same-day for every call, because we’d rather be honest. Call, tell us what’s happening, and we’ll share the soonest we can be there. A sewer alarm gets priority over a noisy circulator.
Are you factory-authorized for a specific brand?
We work on the pumps already installed at the property. We won’t claim a factory badge we don’t hold. If a warranty repair needs to go back to a manufacturer’s station, we’ll explain that clearly.
Water well pumps
Do you drill new wells?
We don’t drill new wells. That’s a different license. We repair and replace the pump and the pressure equipment. If the well itself has a problem, we’ll say so and point you toward a driller.
Can you match the pump that is already in the well?
Usually, yes. If we can read the model, horsepower, and stages — or measure what’s there — we can match it. A bigger pump isn’t always better. It needs to fit the well and the pressure your home or irrigation actually needs.
Why does a well pump short-cycle?
Often it’s a waterlogged pressure tank, a worn bladder, a switch set too tightly, or a check valve letting water fall back down the well. We check those easier parts before blaming the pump.
Lawn irrigation pumps
Is this the same as repairing sprinkler heads and drip lines?
Not quite. We take care of the pump and the pressure equipment that feeds the system. Sprinkler heads, drip lines, and timer programming are landscape work. If weak zones are really a pump problem, that’s us.
The pump lost prime. Does it need replacing?
Not always. A suction leak, a tired check valve, or a clogged intake can keep a healthy pump from priming. We’ll test that before recommending a new pump.
Can an irrigation pump pull from a well?
Sometimes, yes. Irrigation might share the house well through a booster, or it might have its own pump. We’ll look at how yours is set up before ordering anything.
Commercial sewer pumps
Do you jet or replace sewer laterals?
We focus on the pump and its controls. If the line itself is blocked or collapsed, that’s drain cleaning or underground work, and we’ll tell you kindly if that’s what we’re seeing.
Can you work a station that is in alarm right now?
Yes, please call. Tell us the address, what the alarm is doing, and whether anything is already overflowing. We’ll let you know the soonest we can be there. Try not to keep resetting a breaker on a pump that won’t turn.
Residential ejectors too?
Yes. Homes with a bathroom below the sewer line, or a grinder because the sewer is uphill, use the same kind of equipment. We’re happy to help with those too.
Commercial water pumps
Do you design building water systems from scratch?
We take care of pumps that are already installed and giving you trouble. Designing a brand-new building system is a different kind of project. If a set you already have is failing, give us a call.
Fire pumps?
Fire pumps follow a different code, so we leave those to the fire-protection folks. We’re glad to help with everyday domestic and process water pumps.
Can you work from a property manager’s keys?
Yes. If someone can let us into the pump room and the shutoff is easy to find, that’s all we need. A labeled door and a working valve make the visit much smoother.
Circulating pumps
Is a circulating pump the same as a well pump?
They’re different. A circulator moves water that’s already in a heating or hot-water loop. It doesn’t lift water out of a well, and the repair is usually quicker.
The pump is leaking. Can it be sealed?
On most small circulators, the seal and the cartridge are the pump. We’ll replace the cartridge or the whole unit so you’re not living with a drip.
Do you work in occupied restaurants and apartments?
Yes. These pumps are often in a closet or above a ceiling. We’ll work carefully around guests and tenants, and isolate just that loop when the valves allow it.
