Circulating pump repair

A little circulator can make a big difference. When hot water takes forever, or one wing of the building goes cold, we’ll repair or replace the pump that keeps the loop moving.

Sounds familiar?

If any of these match, you’re in the right place. If it’s something else, just say so when you call.

  • Hot water takes minutes to reach the far fixtures
  • A heating loop is cold on one wing and fine on another
  • The circulator is noisy, seized, or leaking at the bearing
  • A wet-rotor pump hums and does not move water
  • The boiler or chiller faults on flow

What a visit looks like

Hydronic heating and cooling loops

Commercial mechanical rooms are full of small circulators on boilers, heat exchangers, and coils. We match flange-to-flange replacements and check that isolation valves actually hold before the loop is opened.

Domestic hot-water recirculation

Restaurants, apartments, and offices use recirculation so the far faucet isn’t a long wait. When that small bronze pump stops, the loop goes cold. If the check valve and control are still fine, replacing the pump is usually straightforward.

Seized, leaking, and wrong-sized

Some circulators seize after sitting, and some leak at the seal. We’ll replace the cartridge or the pump with one that fits the loop, not simply the biggest one available.

What we leave alone

We don’t rebuild boilers or redesign a whole heating system. If the loop is already piped and the pump has quit, we can get that pump running again.

Common questions

Is a circulating pump the same as a well pump?

They’re different. A circulator moves water that’s already in a heating or hot-water loop. It doesn’t lift water out of a well, and the repair is usually quicker.

The pump is leaking. Can it be sealed?

On most small circulators, the seal and the cartridge are the pump. We’ll replace the cartridge or the whole unit so you’re not living with a drip.

Do you work in occupied restaurants and apartments?

Yes. These pumps are often in a closet or above a ceiling. We’ll work carefully around guests and tenants, and isolate just that loop when the valves allow it.
